Visualisation of a Special Place

 

This visualisation of a special place can be used with a meditation or deep breathing technique or add it to the Relaxation Script and tape it so you can listen to it any time. Remember to pause between every sentence. This is how it works:

 

Now that you are deeply relaxed and in a state of inner calm, go to the back of your mind and imagine a beautiful place that you would like to be a part of right now.
Ask yourself, “Where would I like to be right now?”
It might be a place you love to go to like the beach or the rainforest or the mountains. Maybe you love the city at night. It doesn’t matter what place you choose, as long as it brings a sense of calm to you. It could be an imaginary place or somewhere you’ve seen in a movie or magazine.
Allow the image of the place to come to you. Imagine that you are there right now. Look around you. What do you see? What colors, textures and forms are there? What do you hear? Notice the sounds around you. What can you smell? Take in a deep breath to smell the aromas in your special place. What other things do you notice? Perhaps you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin or the breeze through your hair. What feelings do you have being there? Peace, security, love?  Immerse yourself in the place. Enjoy being at peace. Embrace the feelings of calm and relaxation. Stay there as long as you like.
When you are ready, allow your mind to return to the present. Move your head and stretch your body. Open your eyes, feeling wide awake, refreshed and at peace.
 

When you are stressed, go to a quiet place and take some deep breaths and bring up the image of your special place. This can be a soothing way to regain your sense of peace.
