Tuesdays may be arranged. Psychological Sessions are 1 hour long.
Fees: Individual Psychological
Consultation: $120 (for other treatment fees, see schedule under
therapy)
All fees are due on the day of your appointment. Cash, cheque
or direct deposit are accepted.
Medicare Rebates: For Psychological
Consultations, A Mental Health Care Plan may be arranged with your GP and if you are eligible, Medicare will
rebate a portion of the fee. Please ask Barb about this prior to booking an appointment. Please
note: Reiki and Soul Clearing Treatments are not covered by Medicare.
Private Insurance: Most private insurance companies offer rebates for psychology. Please check with your
provider.
Confidentiality: Psychologists are bound by ethical guidelines which treat client information in the strictest
of confidence. The only exception to this policy is in regard to threats by a client to harm themselves or others. In such life
threatening situations, a psychologist may contact relevant authorities or individuals. If you attend
psychological therapy under a Mental Health Care Plan, a short report will be sent to your General
Practitioner. Occassionally, it may be valuable for the psychologist to speak to your GP, however, this would
be with your prior knowledge and approval.
Cancellation Policy: Barb runs a fairly busy practice and there are often clients on a waiting list to be seen.
Therefore, twenty-four hours notice would be greatly appreciated if you need to cancel. A fee may apply if 24
hours notice is not given.
Barb’s Philosophy
I believe we are here to learn and grow. Everything that happens in our life has a
purpose. The most difficult situations are often the ones that help us grow and learn the most. But in the
midst of these "trials" we often feel lost and alone and in need of a listening ear, a compassionate heart to
understand, and help in clarifying which way to go. This is where counselling can be helpful. I would be
honoured to guide you on your journey to wholeness.
Soul psychology is the premise from which I work.
It takes a higher perspective of life's problems,
seeing them as teaching tools. My approach to counselling is based on
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, believing that we create our future by what we think, believe and do in the
present. Sometimes the smallest change in behaviour results in the biggest life transformation. Changing a
thought or a belief can alter the course of your life. You have so much more power than you probably realise.
CBT is a method of instigating change in a clear and focused way. During therapy, I also utilise various
other methods, if I feel these will enhance healing and growth, including inner child, EFT, Byron Katie's
Work, visualisation techniques and relaxation and meditation. My goal
is to support my clients in finding peace, joy and happiness in their
lives.
